Installing a Toyota Tundra 5-inch Lift Kit from Pe

We install a 5-inch lift kit from Performance Accessories for a 2007 and 2008 Toyota Tundra that allows for 35-inch-tall tires for under $900.

This is kinda interesting. If I had known about this option when I started looking, I may have gone that route. The 5" lift looks really nice and I bet it doesn't guzzle as much either. Anybody have input on adding body lifts to the Tundra? In another year I'd consider doing more height but trying to decide how I'd go about it whether using a leveling kit or just a body.

i didnt go through the whole article more or less looked at the pics but it seems that a body lift is a cheaper solution to gaining height

Cheaper... until you have to fix the problems they cause in a few years.

Stay away from the body lift if you can....unless you really need the extra little bit to fit your monster tires in there! haha

Wow! Not to hear the bad news, but what happens later in the life of a body lift? I just figured it was a bit more unstable but no idea what it does.

If you drive a street queen then you don't have to worry about it as much. Body lifts cause extra stress on the cab and end up cracking and possibly punching holes through the cab where they mount. It's very common when the vehicle is used offroad. If you have a wreck, the cab has been known to keep on going even when the frame has already stopped in a collision. The lift is commonly urethane bushings that compress and wear out over time. They don't support the cab in a wreck and give easily.

Oh yeah, I forgot that your load capacity drops since the truck bed is sitting up on the lift blocks rather than on the frame.
